Principal Security Analyst
Greg Day is the primary analyst of security trends and McAfee strategy in the Europe, Middle East and Africa region. As an active spokesperson for the company, he is a frequent contributor to journals, has had numerous papers published and is a keynote speaker on all aspects of information security at conferences and events across EMEA.

Day has taken an active role in promoting awareness of today’s broader security challenges and has been a key part of a range of initiatives designed to manage these issues, both today and in the future. Day is the EMEA lead for the McAfee Initiative to Fight Cybercrime and has spoken at the Council of Europe (CoE) and the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) events on cybercrime, warfare and terrorism.

Day has worked in the information security industry since 1991, starting his career with Dr Solomon’s, where he built and led a consultancy team dealing with clients’ anti-virus issues both at strategic and technical level. Dr Solomon’s was subsequently acquired by McAfee and Day has since held a number of different roles within the company. He was instrumental in founding the company’s best practices team, focused on providing customers with expert IT security consulting and sharing best practice on security measurement. He has also worked as a global solutions architect, providing senior consultancy to McAfee’s blue chip customers and high-security government offices and remains an active member of McAfee Avert Labs, the company’s global threat analysis and response team.

Day is a member of a range of security industry forums, including the Cyber Security Industry Alliance (CSIA), the Cyber Security Knowledge Transfer Network and the Internet Security Forum (ISF). Day has a BSc (Hons) in Information Systems from the University of Portsmouth and wrote his own TSR virus interceptor in assembler language as part of his dissertation on computer viruses.
