Oscar nominees are more popular and risky online right now

I am revving up for the Oscars this weekend, how about you? I find myself impressed with this year’s picks. Some years I wonder if it is just a popularity contest, but this year I think the competition is stiff! I have resigned myself to rooting for more than one person/film in each category. I actually still have a few movies to watch before Sunday and Alice In Wonderland opens this weekend (!!!!!) – think I am going to be watching a lot of movies in the next few days!
My boys (all three) are rooting for Christoph Waltz to win for Inglorious Basterds and my six year old is wanting Coraline to win for EVERYTHING! And I’ve been finding them search for pictures, music, screensavers, etc. with the actors names and movies titles.
Well I’m not sure if the list below is any indicator of who may win the Academy Award on Sunday, but McAfee has seen a spike in their popularity and it’s making them targets to being riskier to search for online! I imagine this is an award they don’t really care to receive… but congratulations to… Best Actress Nominee Sandra Bullock with 29.6% of web search results containing some type of maliciousness that will muck up your computer. Following very closely on Sandra’s heels is Penelope Cruz with 29.3% contaminated web search returns. It seems the ladies are about 40% more dangerous than the men.

It just goes to show that you can never let your guard down for one second when you have a computer. Just remember to use the technology that is available – antivirus/ security suite, siteadvisor, firewall, etc. Keep your computer protected and surf smart!
