I just came across a must read for everyone. (Cyber Son #1 came across this great article, BTW) It is called The Usability of Passwords. What I like is that it very thoroughly breaks down what people generally use for passwords, all of the ways in which passwords are stolen and then what the usual suggestions for a “safe “password might be. The author then explains in simple terms why those suggestions may not be good in terms of how long it would take that particular password to get hacked. How awesome is that?
Take the time to read this and please pass it on to your friends. We all use passwords every day – and his solution is not difficult to use or remember.
If you don’t have time today to read this article, I will break it down quickly. This diagram from the article shows five different types of passwords and how quickly they can get hacked without your knowledge.
The problem is that most people don’t even get as complex with their passwords. Raise your hand if your password is your pet’s name! Or if your password is “password”!
Now if instead of “Fluffy” you choose “Fluffy is Puffy” (authors suggestion) it would take 39,637,200 years using the Dictionary method he describes in the article to hack your password! Using a combination of three words as a password makes your simple password incredibly secure. Is this awesome or what?
This is one of the most helpful articles I have come across in a while. So go read it, pass it on to your friends and then go change your passwords!
Stay safe out there!

Just Excellent Statistics..To warn unsecure world,
But why cant we think of a comletely secure systems..Like Hardware operating systems..Registration of internet users only for Authorised Bank Account holders only with full identity..Throu banking system only..Harsh penalties to criminals of all age bar..
Unless stringent actions are not taken .. We will deliberately lead our planer to full of crimes..& Cease to exist as animal law of ants..
Need More work..to the roots of system..
Anyway good work done by mcaffee..& team.
Jimmy – your words are true. Nonetheless, there are criminals out there just trying to make a buck. Better to be aware of the situation and take safety precautions than to have your bank account emptied.
Thanks for the comment!

Thanks Tracy for the link. Appreciate it!
The comment I have for this site is: 1. If there were no morons to theive from the working people there would be no need for passwords. Grant ed some steal paaswords to see if they canbut there are also those who do it as a living and to be lazy. But the hints for good password creation was awesome and I do like it and will use these ideas.
