Hello:

On April 25 last I received a call from a company saying that they were aware that I was having problems with my PC (which was true) and that they could help. The name 'Microsoft' was mentioned on several occasions and I thought this was a response to error reports sent out by my machine. They took me inside my PC and showed me that I had over 1,200 malware files on it plus over 5,000 warnings, error messages, etc. They then told me that my machine would crash if I didn't follow their instructions. I therefore continued with the process and, after making 2 payments, they took my machine over remotely and removed, or so they said, all the troublesome files. I must say that my PC began to work far more smoothly following this procedure, but today it is back to whirring away madly in the background and I don't have a clue what it is doing. What can I do to ensure that they have left nothing on my PC which will cause me problems in the future and/or compromise my security? I did receive an invoice from these people, but the phone number they left me just rings and rings. I would very much appreciate your input on this.

Best regards

Gracias.

Microsoft Windows XP closed this program today: McAfee Service Host. I do not believe that I have a computer threat. Should I run it without DEP?
Microsoft advice is: "In this case, the program might not run correctly with DEP turned on and you should see if a DEP-compatible version of the program is available. "
Is there a DEP compatible version of the program that I could install? If so how do I get McAfee Service Host restarted? Many thanks
