As a child, I was always taught that “sharing was caring”. So I shared my toys with my brothers, shared my candy with sister – and we all got along beautifully, and of course, made our parents happy. Now that same “sharing” philosophy has helped me in my business collaboration of sharing documents and marketing collateral with my colleagues using a Microsoft SharePoint server.
Collaboration and information sharing is key to any business, and tools like Microsoft SharePoint 2010 has helped to improve productivity and communications. But while sharing is key, it’s important to ensure that the files on SharePoint are free from malware, and do not inadvertently contain confidential information. So, just like any business asset, if you use SharePoint, don’t let your servers go unprotected. And if you currently use virus protection on your SharePoint servers, remember that files in SharePoint are stored directly in SQL and are not scanned by the anti-virus on the SharePoint server. Your SharePoint sites may also be in high risk if they are externally accessible.
McAfee Security for Microsoft SharePoint™, formerly McAfee PortalShield, detects, cleans, and removes viruses and inappropriate content from your SharePoint workspace to ensure that your employees, partners, and customers stay productive and worry-free.
On July 14, 2010, McAfee announced the latest release of McAfee Security for Microsoft SharePoint 2.5 to protect your collaboration efforts with new, advanced content filtering, real-time malware detection and greater integration to our ePolicy Orchestrator (ePO) management interface.
Secure your SharePoint content - McAfee detects, cleans and removes malware, and offers advanced filtering to ban inappropriate or unauthorized content uploads/downloads accessible from your SharePoint workspace. With scan improvements like incremental and resume-able scan settings, McAfee can also apply rules to more than 300 types of documents including Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat.
Current customers of McAfee Security for SharePoint Servers can access the McAfee Download Center with their grant number and download the latest version 2.5.
Not protected yet? Learn to secure your sharing efforts with information from McAfee’s Web site, or download a free trial, and make your parents proud knowing that you’re continuing the lessons of “sharing is caring.”
